Showerthought: My recent deck build had me missing the old hammer swings
I was putting together a deck last week and used an air nailer for most of it. It got me thinking about my first years when we drove every nail by hand. That method gave me a real connection to the work that I don't always get now. Do you ever feel like some new tools take away from the craft?

Ever miss that solid thunk?

Feel that in my soul, @reed.vera. My dad's old truck door sounded like a bank vault closing. Everything now just gives a cheap little click, feels like you're shutting a cereal box. They don't build them with that same heavy feel anymore. It's a small thing, but you really do notice when it's gone.

Oh absolutely! That sound from heavy car doors is unbeatable. My old Jeep had it, and I didn't realize how much I'd miss it until I got a newer model.
