Old timer told me I was overthinking miters. Changed everything.

Guy named Hank at the lumber yard saw me stressing over a 45 degree cut. He just said 'stop using the bevel square for everything, just use the stop on the saw and trust it.' Switched to a digital protractor and a stop block setup. Haven't recut a single miter in 6 months now. Anyone else get one simple tip that just clicked?

Anna's point about the simple method being better really hits home for me. I used to get caught up in all the fancy measuring tools and double checking everything, but it just made me second guess myself constantly. Once I started trusting the saw's stop and using a dedicated stop block for repeat cuts, my miters came out clean every time without all the fuss. That old timer's advice about not overcomplicating it changed how I work on just about every joint now.

Read a woodworking blog that said the same thing @alexc93 did, trust the saw not the tape.

My dad was always big on measuring twice and using all the fancy tools. Took me a while to realize Hank's right, sometimes the simple method is better.
