Hot take: found out the average framer only swings a hammer about 15% of the day
Was reading a breakdown from a builder out in Amarillo last week and it said most of a framer's day is really measuring, cutting, and moving lumber, not pounding nails like the old timers make it look. Ran a rough count on my own job Tuesday and I bet I was under that number, half my morning was just hauling 2x10s up a ladder. Makes me wonder if we spend enough time teaching layout and planning to new guys instead of just handing them a hammer. Any of you ever actually track your day like that?
