Finally switched from my grandpa's old hand brace to a cordless drill today

Been using that heavy brace for 5 years because it was free, but my wrist started killing me after 30 minutes. Got a Dewalt 20V on sale last week and framed a shed in half the time with zero pain. Anyone else hold onto old tools way too long because of sentimental reasons?

Jeez, that circular saw story is wild. You actually kept using one that was binding up? That's a one-way ticket to losing a digit, man. I get the sentimental part though, my first pair of grooming shears are still in a drawer somewhere. But yeah, at some point a tool just becomes a hazard, not a keepsake.

You think keeping a tool that causes you pain for years is sentimental? I held onto my dad's old circular saw long after it started binding up because he passed, but finally realized it wasn't honoring him to risk losing a finger. Sometimes the best way to respect the past is to set it aside.
