Showerthought: I said no to a $9,800 job last Tuesday and finally understood why my old boss did the same thing
I used to think turning down work was crazy, like throwing money in the trash. Then last Tuesday a guy called about a full rewire on a rental in Springfield and I quoted $9,800, and he pushed me to drop it to $7,200 and start the next morning. I sat with it for an hour and said no, because I already had two jobs booked that week and rushing them would cost me more in callbacks than the difference. My old boss turned down work all the time and I thought he was lazy, but he was just protecting his schedule and his name. Anybody else here learned this the hard way, or am I late to the party?
