I dropped $800 on a 'career accelerator' course that was basically a rehash of free YouTube videos.

I saw an ad for this online program promising to teach 'advanced networking strategies' and 'personal branding secrets' for a new industry I wanted to break into. The sales page made it sound like insider knowledge, so I paid the fee last fall. The course videos were just generic advice I'd already seen for free, and the 'exclusive' Facebook group was dead. I feel like I paid for a fancy wrapper around common sense. Has anyone found a paid course that was actually worth the money, or should we all just stick to free resources?

That $800 hurts, and @henderson.vera is right about mentors.

Ugh, that's brutal. I've been burned by those too, they're mostly scams. Honestly, just find a good mentor in that field instead.

Didn't someone just post a podcast about finding real mentors vs fake gurus?
