Had to pick between a promotion with a big team or a solo specialist role

Went with the specialist path for a 15% pay bump, but I'm not getting any management experience now. Anyone made a similar choice and regretted it later?

I always chased management titles until I saw a friend get stuck in endless meetings. Your specialist gig sounds pretty sweet now.

Honestly, I was all about management too, but the pay bump changes everything.

Question whether a pay bump really changes everything that much. Sure, more money is nice, but you have to look at the whole picture. Management comes with a lot of extra stress and responsibility that a specialist role doesn't have. I've seen people take a manager job for the money and end up hating their lives within six months. It's worth asking if the tradeoff is really worth it before you jump.
