Figuring out how to ask for a raise took me almost a full year of overthinking it.
I kept putting it off, making excuses about timing and my project list, until my manager finally asked me point-blank in our review why I hadn't brought it up sooner. How do you pick the right moment to start that conversation?

Oh, the right moment... it's always about two weeks after you should have done it. I spent so long waiting for a "perfect" time that never came, like after a big win when the boss was in a good mood... but then I'd just find another reason to stall.

Yeah that "perfect time" thing is such a trap, @jamesfox. I've totally talked myself out of asking for stuff by overthinking it like that.
