Boss told me my reports were 'all data no story' so now I start every quarterly review with one concrete customer example
I had 3 years of perfect numbers and nobody cared until I led with the story about how we saved that bakery in Akron $1,200 a month on their fence repairs, has anyone else gotten feedback that made you totally rethink your whole approach?

That's a smart move honestly. Numbers just blur together after a while but a real story sticks with people. I started adding customer quotes to my reports and suddenly leadership actually remembered what I presented.

Used to think storytelling in business was just fluff and wasted time. Then I tried tying a quarterly sales dip to one specific customer's experience switching to a competitor. Suddenly the execs weren't just nodding along, they were asking follow up questions and actually digging into the details. Totally flipped my view on it.
