Boss dangled a promotion for 9 months then gave it to his buddy from church
So I got told back in February that I was next in line for our team lead spot, and my manager said it like it was already done. I started coming in at 7:30 every morning, ran two trainings nobody asked me to run, and even covered a guy's on call shift on Easter weekend. Fast forward to October and they hand the job to a dude who started 4 months ago and knows the manager from church. When I asked what happened, I got "it came down to fit" and a promise of a review in January. Now I'm updating my resume on my lunch break and it feels gross, like I wasted almost a full year. Do I confront him about the timeline or just quietly start applying and say nothing until I have an offer in hand?
