Update: That influencer who tried to come back with a 'mental health break' apology
So remember that travel vlogger who got caught faking her whole Amazon jungle rescue story? She posted a 12 minute video last week blaming 'burnout' for the whole thing. I actually watched the whole thing just to see how bad it was. She said she needed time to heal and then dropped a link to her new merch line in the description. The comments were brutal. Like 80% of them were calling her out for making up a kidnapping for views. But here's the weird part. I checked her subscriber count and she actually gained like 4k people since the apology. People are still clicking on this trainwreck. Has anyone else noticed that getting canceled sometimes just gives these people more attention?

Good point @williams.kim. My subscriber count would probably drop if I tried that, I'm not even interesting enough to hate-watch.

4k new subscribers is wild. I checked one of those social blade sites and she peaked at 8k new subs the day after the apology dropped. People love a trainwreck. They click to hate watch but the algorithm just counts it as engagement. So she gets boosted in recommendations anyway.
