Shoutout to the PR firm that told me to wait 6 months before posting again, worst advice I ever got
Back in March I had a clip from an old livestream resurface where I said something dumb about a sponsor, and the guy I paid $800 to handle it said stay quiet for 6 months and let it blow over. Meanwhile a friend of mine who got dragged for way worse stuff came back after 3 weeks with a plain apology video and people actually moved on. Turns out waiting just lets the internet write your story for you, because by month 4 there were 2 reaction videos with 400k views each about how I "went into hiding." Did anyone else get told to go silent and regret it, or was radio silence actually the right move for you?
Radio silence is almost always the wrong call. Six months is forever online. Your friend nailed it with the 3 week apology. People forget fast when you show up and own it. Hiding just makes you look guilty and gives everyone else time to make stuff up. Two 400k view videos calling you a coward is what happens when you vanish.
