I was rooting for a canceled creator for years before I caught on
For like 3 years I was defending this beauty YouTuber who got canceled for faking a giveaway. I thought people were just being harsh, you know? Then I watched her comeback video where she cried about "growing" and I noticed she was wearing the exact same necklace from the scandal pictures. That tipped me off that nothing had really changed. She was using the same manipulative tactics just dressed up as vulnerability. Now I look for those small details when someone tries to come back. Have you ever had a moment where a tiny thing made you realize a creator was faking their redemption arc?

Oh man, I actually read about this exact thing somewhere. There was this whole breakdown of how certain creators recycle the same emotional beats in their apology videos. It pointed out that a lot of them use the same sad music and lighting, and they always mention how much they've "learned" without actually saying what specific actions they changed. The necklace thing is such a good catch though. I remember seeing this one gamer who got caught using slurs, and in his comeback stream he kept emphasizing how he was "diving into books about empathy." But then someone found out he just bought the books and never read them, they were still in the plastic wrap on his shelf behind him. It's always those little details, you know?

idk @ray_miller41, but buying books for show is still more effort than most of them put in.
