Hit 500k views on a 'regret video' and it changed my comeback plan

So I posted a video last month owning up to the whole sponsor scandal from 2023, not expecting much. It got 500k views in like 4 days, which is wild because my channel was dead at 40k subs. I think people actually respect when you admit you messed up instead of doing that fake PR apology thing. My old manager texted me saying I should pivot to 'accountability content' but that feels like a trap. Now I'm stuck deciding if I lean into this or just go back to normal gaming videos. Has anyone else had a random apology post blow up and then figure out how to use that without looking thirsty? Also curious if the hate comments ever stop or if you just learn to ignore em.

Ugh, I know exactly how that feels, it's like the internet suddenly decides you're interesting again for all the wrong reasons. I had a similar thing happen when I came clean about faking a giveaway result, and the trick for me was to make one more video addressing the comments and questions, then just go back to my normal content without mentioning it again. The hate never really stops, but it gets quieter, and honestly the people who stuck around after that are way better than the ones who just showed up for drama.
