Had to decide between sticking with old school promotion or jumping on a TikTok trend
Back in 2018 when I was trying to grow my local moving company, I had to choose between spending $500 on a newspaper ad or making a silly video of my crew dancing with a couch. I went with the newspaper ad and got maybe 3 calls from it. Meanwhile, my competitor made a 15 second TikTok showing them wrap a piano in moving blankets and it got 80,000 views. Did anyone else miss the boat on social media back then and regret it?

Jumped into TikTok two years ago thinking it was just for kids dancing and didn't want any part of it. Then my neighbor's landscaping business blew up after he posted a 30 second time-lapse of him trimming a hedge into a dinosaur shape, got like 200k views and booked solid for months. Changed my whole view when I saw the numbers, now I throw a quick 20 second clip up whenever I finish a job and it brings in way more calls than any flyer or local paper ever did.

Oh yeah @bettyfox, consistency is the real secret, I started doing the same with my handyman gig and it's the best free advertising I've found, just keep it short and show the finished product.

I remember reading that small businesses see way more traction with short video clips than with anything else these days. It really makes sense when you think about how fast people scroll past stuff.
