Caught a canceled lifestyle guru faking a live workshop in Austin last weekend
I went to this "intimate comeback tour" for Jenna Voss (she got canceled for faking her whole organic farm brand) at a small venue on South Congress. She was supposed to be showing us how to hand-make soap from scratch, but I noticed all the ingredients were pre-measured in identical jars... and her "spontaneous" tips matched a script I found on a production table by the bathroom. The whole crowd of 50 people paid $75 each for a session that was just a pre-recorded video playing on a screen. Has anyone else seen influencers charge real money for events that feel totally staged?

Went to a "live" yoga retreat last year where the instructor kept pausing to check her phone for the next pose sequence, so I feel this in my soul. @averywilliams I don't think people realize how common this is until you actually sit in the audience and watch them mess up the script. The jars being pre-measured is such a dead giveaway though, like at least try to look like you're doing something live. Made me wonder how many other "intimate" events are just people watching a video and paying for the privilege.

Used to roll my eyes at people who said live events were just money grabs, but this is next level. $75 for a TV screen is wild.
