Just hit 50 canceled influencers this year and it feels weird

I keep a little list on my phone of everyone who got canceled this year and I just realized I'm at 50. It started as a joke but now I actually look back and see how many people came back a month later like nothing happened. Does anyone else feel like cancel culture has lost its teeth compared to even two years ago?

Did you see that article from The Verge a few days ago, @brown.gavin? They did a whole breakdown on canceled and rebranded products this year and the numbers didn't match what's floating around. I guess if you add up all the small ones nobody talks about, it might be closer to 75 or 80 total changes if you count soft rebrands where they just changed the name but kept the formula. The 50 and 45 thing feels like someone was guessing based on the big name products only. I swear half the time brands just quietly swap a label and call it a "new look" to avoid the backlash. I saw a post from another account tracking all the changes and they had a spreadsheet going, it was wild.

Started keeping my own list a few months ago to prove a point that it was all just noise, but I gotta say reading this with the spreadsheet thing makes me think I was wrong. Seeing it laid out with the small ones nobody talks about changes the whole picture. That's where I think the real damage is happening, the quiet ones that don't get debated on Twitter for three days.
