Hit 50k followers but half of them are bots

I crossed 50k on Instagram this week. Thought it'd feel like a win. Then I checked my engagement and it's like 2 percent. Almost all new follows are blank profiles from Asia. Makes me wonder if brands even care about follower count anymore or if they just look at the real numbers. Anyone else hitting milestones that feel hollow?

Brands are definitely looking at engagement more than the number these days... my buddy runs social for a midsize company and he says they don't even blink at follower counts under 100k if the comments are dead. That 2% rate is what's gonna hurt you more than the bot problem.

You're not wrong about brands caring about engagement, but I think there's still a ton of companies buying likes and comments too. That 2% rate can get faked just as easy as the follower count these days. It's all a mess if you ask me.
