A regular on my local subreddit told me my 'receipt' posts were just piling on, and he was right
I run a small forum where we track local businesses that get called out online, and I used to post every drama thread I could find along with 4 or 5 screenshots as proof. About 6 weeks ago a guy in Denver who has been posting there since 2011 replied to one of mine and said, 'You are just adding noise, we already know what happened by paragraph two.' That stung but he was right, most of my posts were just repeats with extra caps and no new info. I started waiting 48 hours before posting anything, and only if I could add one fact nobody else had, like a deleted comment or a refund email. My last 3 posts got real replies instead of people asking me to stop. Has anyone else slowed down their posting and seen the talk get better instead of worse?
You are just adding noise" hits hard but man, the 48 hour wait does something else too: it lets the actual facts come out, so you stop being the guy who posted first and start being the guy who posted right. That shift in how people see you might matter more than the post itself.
