Why does nobody talk about the 20 degree temp rating gap between men's and women's sleeping bags
I was comparing bag specs on a gear site last month and noticed the women's version of the same bag is rated 20 degrees warmer than the men's, same fill, same shell. Turns out most brands use a different comfort standard for women because of average body size and sleep temp, which I get, but the price is the same and the weight is nearly the same too. I brought it up in a store in Boise and the clerk shrugged and said they sell the men's one to women all the time because it's cheaper on sale. If the rating system is that different, why don't the tags spell it out in plain numbers so people can actually compare? Has anyone else run into this or am I reading the charts wrong?
