Vent: I thought those $20 emergency blankets were just shiny trash until a night in the Smokies
Got caught in a surprise cold snap and my sleeping bag wasn't enough, but that crinkly sheet actually kept me from a bad time. Anyone have a better compact backup they'd actually trust?

Yeah those things are no joke. Had a similar thing happen car camping when the heater died, felt like a baked potato wrapped in foil but it worked.

That baked potato feeling is no joke, @brian_rivera59. Read a whole thing about how that foil trick works by reflecting your own body heat back at you. It's a real last-ditch move, but it can actually stop you from losing too much warmth. The key is keeping the shiny side facing you to bounce the heat back. Makes you realize how much heat we just give off into the air. Pretty wild that a simple space blanket can be such a game changer in a pinch.

Ever think about how loud those blankets are when you move? Sounds like a chip bag in a quiet tent.
