TIL the first Coleman lantern from 1914 ran on gasoline and kerosene, not propane. Found that out in a museum display in Flagstaff.

Those old ones are a real pain to keep lit compared to modern propane. You have to pump the fuel tank constantly to build pressure. Found that out the hard way on a camping trip where I forgot the pump.

Oh man, I feel that! My grandpa had one of those old lanterns and it was such a chore. I remember my arm getting tired from all the pumping just to get a flicker going. Totally ruins the chill camping vibe when you're fighting with your light source.
