That one ranger at Glacier Point changed how I pack my stove

I was mid-setup at a windy site near the ranger station and he just walked over, pointed at my tiny fuel canister, and said 'that's not gonna boil for 20 minutes up here,' so I swapped to a bigger one and now I check altitude before every trip, anyone else ever get saved by a random ranger tip?

Ranger tips like that are pure gold, man. I had one at Crater Lake tell me my bear bag hang was trash before a bear even smelled it, and that saved me a whole night of no sleep. Now I always ask at the visitor center about wind and elevation stuff, even if I think I know it. It's crazy how a tiny detail like a stove can wreck a whole trip if you don't adjust. Glad you got that heads up before you were eating cold pasta at dusk.
