Spent 4 hours trying to set up a tent I'd used 20 times before

Last weekend I drove up to a spot near Asheville and it was already getting dark. I pulled out my old REI Half Dome and for the life of me couldn't get the pole sleeves to line up right. After wrestling with it for almost 4 hours in the dark I finally realized I had the tent flipped inside out. Has anyone else had a brain fart like that with gear you've used a hundred times?

Lol that's rough. My buddy Tom once spent an hour trying to start his camp stove before realizing he forgot to open the fuel valve. He was just sitting there cranking the igniter over and over getting nowhere.

Oh come on, giving Tom a hard time for missing a basic step is totally fair. It's not like he was trying to build a rocket. Camping gear is supposed to be simple. If you can't remember to open a valve, maybe stick to cold sandwiches and save yourself the frustration. Honestly, it's not like he was out in the wilderness for a week without matches or something. It's a camp stove, not brain surgery. People these days just don't pay attention to the little things, and then they blame the gear.
