Rain flooded my tent at Yellowstone last August and I lost a sleeping bag

Woke up at 3am in a puddle because I didn't seal the seams on my cheap tent. Anyone got a recommendation for a dry bag that actually keeps water out for under $40?

...but were you using a stuff sack or a true dry bag? There's a difference, and most people confuse them. A lot of those cheap "dry bags" are really just waterproof-ish stuff sacks that fail if you accidentally dunk them. I'd look for a roll-top closure with a real seal, not just a drawstring, even in the lower price range. What specifically are you trying to keep dry inside the bag - just the sleeping bag, or also your clothes and phone?

I caught an article from some gear tester that basically said the same thing, how most people don't know the difference until they're hauling out a soaked sleeping bag. It's funny cause I always thought a dry bag was just a dry bag, but I guess the cheap ones are basically just glorified trash bags with a drawstring. If you're tossing in a phone next to a wet tent, you're asking for trouble, you know? I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a roll top than risk my whole trip on a bad seam.
