My new tent pole snapped in a light breeze at Lake Tahoe

Honestly, I'm still mad about it. I bought this 'all season' dome tent for a trip last month, cost me about $180. The first night at the lake, a normal wind came through, maybe 15 mph. I heard a loud pop from the main pole. The fiberglass just gave out near a joint, left a huge sag in the rainfly. I had to use a ton of paracord and a stick from the woods to rig a fix so I didn't get soaked. The whole thing felt super cheap, and the pole sleeves were a pain to get the broken piece out of. What's a good brand that actually uses decent poles? I don't need a tank, just something that won't fail on a calm night.

Man, that's the worst. Your story just reminded me of the time my buddy's cheap grill literally folded in half when he tried to move it, still had burgers on it. Total disaster. It's crazy how stuff that's supposed to be for the outdoors just can't handle being outside. Makes you wonder what they're even testing these things on.

Still had burgers on it" made me snort laugh, sorry not sorry. But seriously, I read somewhere that a lot of these camp brands just test their stuff in a warehouse, not in actual rain or wind. So you get a grill that can hold a pack of hot dogs in a parking lot but folds up the second it sees actual grass and some dirt. It's like they think "outdoors" means a sunny day in a backyard, not a muddy campsite with a breeze. My buddy had a tent that said "waterproof" on the box, but after one drizzle it was basically a swimming pool. Makes you wonder if they even take these things outside before selling them.
