My $80 sleeping pad lost air at 2am in the middle of a rainstorm
Was out at Big Sur last weekend and my Therm-a-Rest knockoff deflated around 2am. Woke up on cold wet ground with my hip digging into rocks. I packed a patch kit but the tear was right along a seam so that didn't hold. Had to sleep sitting up in my truck with the heater on for the rest of the night. Thing was only on its third trip so I figured I got a dud. Anyone else had a sleeping pad fail on them way earlier than expected and what did you switch to?

Yeah that sucks man, I once had a cheap blowup mattress pop on a family camping trip and we all ended up sharing a leaky air mattress like sardines.

My go-to move at 2am is realizing I paid for "gently used" gear that was actually just abused. I patched a seam tear with duct tape once and it held for maybe 20 minutes before I was back to sleeping on a rock garden. Now I just bring my old foam pad as backup even if it's bulky, taught me the hard way that cheap gear is just expensive when it fails.
