Honestly, I just threw $80 at a 'universal' tent repair kit that didn't even fix the small tear in my rainfly from a trip to the Adirondacks.

Tbh, the adhesive patches were way too stiff and peeled right off in the damp air, so has anyone found a specific brand or method that actually works for silnylon?

Try Gear Aid's Seam Grip. That stuff actually bonds to silnylon.

Ugh, classic universal kit fail. I've had good luck with Tenacious Tape, the clear kind, for silnylon.

Heat can really change how those patches stick over time. I left a taped tent in the car on a hot day and the adhesive got weird. It's worth keeping in mind for long-term repairs.
