Found a way to dry out wet sleeping bags without a dryer

Got caught in a surprise storm last weekend up near Tahoe. My 15 degree bag was soaked through and the campground had no electric hookups. Tried hanging it for 2 days with zero luck. Then a guy at the next site told me to lay it flat on a tarp with a space blanket under it to reflect heat back. Turned the bag over every hour and it was dry by noon the next day. Has anyone else tried using reflectors for drying gear or am I late to this party?

Dang, that sounds rough. Getting caught in a storm is the worst, especially with a soaked bag out in the sticks. That tarp and space blanket trick is a smart hack, I wish I'd known about it earlier.

Isn't that just asking for mildew growth since you're trapping moisture under the bag, @joseph_torres?

Three wet tarps in my basement right now prove that point.
