Warning: that $35 lens spanner wrench from Amazon wrecked my Helios 44-2

Bought one of those cheap stainless steel spanners last month thinking it'd be fine for adjusting a stuck focus ring. Thing slipped on the second try and gouged the brass trim ring pretty bad. Now I'm out the cost of the lens plus the wrench. Anyone else had luck with a specific brand that actually holds the pins steady?

Guess you found out the hard way that cheap tools cost more in the long run.

Twelve dollars for a screwdriver set at the flea market. Seemed like a steal at the time. First project with it and the tip snapped off on the third screw. Had to drill the thing out, took me an hour. Learned my lesson real quick. Used to think people were just showing off with the expensive brands. Now I get it, buy once cry once is real.

Same thing happened to me with a cheap wrench set from the auto parts store. I switched to buying used older tools from estate sales instead, they cost less than the cheap stuff but last forever. Sucks that you had to learn that lesson on a stuck screw though, those expensive brands really do pay off in frustration saved.
