That old camera shop on Elm Street had a shelf full of nothing but shutters
I stopped into Henderson's Cameras last Tuesday to grab some screwdrivers for a shutter job and noticed they had a whole shelf labeled 'Misc Shutters - $5 each' near the back. I spent 45 minutes digging through Compur, Prontor, and some off-brand shutters, found one that looked like it came off a 1940s folder that still fired at every speed. Has anyone else found a weird hidden stash like that in a local shop?

Wait, you found one that actually FIRES at every speed after sitting on a shelf for who knows how long? That's either a miracle or somebody's grandpa's stash that never saw a repair bench.

Man, "somebody's grandpa's stash" really got me. That's exactly the kind of luck I'd kill for. I've been through a few old guns myself and every time I'm hoping for that same thing, a clean piece that never got messed with. Most of the time I just find stuff that's been sitting in a damp basement for decades, all rusted and gummed up. It really stings when you see a nice old piece and it's been totally neglected. You ever have a find like that, where it just needed a wipe down and some oil?
