That old bellows camera at an estate sale in Tacoma changed how I clean shutters.

The guy who owned it was a retired machinist who had rigged up a zeph oil drip system onto the shutter mechanism and I spent two hours the next day figuring out why my own CLA routine was leaving residue that attracted dust, has anyone else run into a hobbyist's weird mod that made you rethink your whole workflow?

Zeph oil drip on a bellows camera is wild. That kind of obsessive tinkering usually reveals a much better solution than what the manuals say. Makes you wonder how many basic repairs we all overcomplicate.

Obsessive tinkering" is a nice way to put it. My version of that usually ends with me holding three extra screws and praying the thing still works.

It's like we fix a leaky faucet with duct tape and call it character building.
