Switched from hot air to a heat block for lens repairs and saved my own sanity

I used to fight with a hot air station for every seized helicoid or stuck filter ring, always worrying about melting plastic parts or blowing components off boards. About 2 months ago I picked up a small adjustable heat block off eBay for 40 bucks and it changed everything. Now I just clamp the part on there, set the temp to 180, and walk away for 10 minutes. Has anyone else tried a heat block for stubborn brass barrel rings?

@kaid59 I think you might be confusing heat blocks with something else because these don't run hot at all until you actually turn them on. They only heat the specific part you place on them, not the whole workbench like a hot plate would.

Picked up the same heat block last month and it's been a lifesaver.

Why would anyone want extra heat when most blocks already run too hot? @riveradams
