Surprised by how many Rolex 1030 movements I've seen with broken balance staffs

I was digging through some old repair logs last week and counted that out of 30 Rolex 1030 movements I've worked on in the last 2 years, 18 had broken balance staffs. Found that stat in my own notebook at the shop in Portland. Has anyone else noticed this being a common issue with that specific caliber?

Totally feel your pain on this one. That's a brutal failure rate for any movement, let alone a Rolex.

Must be something in the water with those 1030s. Maybe they just get tired after 60 years and snap, kind of like my back after a long day at the bench.
