PSA: That classic camera with a dead shutter might have a simple fix
Just worked on an old SLR where the shutter wouldn't fire. I almost sent it for parts, but then I checked the battery contacts. They were corroded and just needed a clean. Now it works perfectly. Always test the basics first to save time and cash.

Ever notice how many older electronics just need that kind of basic cleanup? I've totally been there, ready to toss something before checking the simple stuff. It's such a good feeling when a cheap fix brings something back to life. I've saved a few things from the trash by just cleaning off battery corrosion, that white crusty stuff. It's wild how often the fix is just undoing the damage from an old leaky battery.

Totally agree, that cheap fix feeling is the best reward!

What's your go-to method for cleaning that crusty stuff off without damaging the electronics? I've heard vinegar works but I'm always nervous about making it worse lol.
