Picked up a tip about sticky aperture blades from an old repair video

Honestly, was watching a 1980s repair reel from a guy in Cleveland about a Pentax K1000 and he mentioned using naphtha on stuck aperture blades, not oil. Tried it on a Yashica that came in with a slow shutter, worked way better than my usual cleaning routine. Anyone else use naphtha for this or stick to lighter fluid?

Naphtha is basically the same thing as lighter fluid, just slightly less refined, so you're not really switching methods. I've seen guys use both and they work the same on old grease, but you gotta be careful not to flood the blades or it can leave a film that attracts dust later. How long did you let it dry before you tested the shutter speeds?

Dried mine overnight, but my cat knocked the lens off the table. @karen_west59, shutters still worked after that.
