Just read that the original Leica M3 had over 2,700 individual parts, which is a wild number to think about when you're holding one.
Found that fact in a 1960s service manual I picked up at a flea market in Cincinnati last weekend, and it makes every successful CLA feel like a minor miracle.

That's a cool find, but I'm pretty sure that 2,700 number is for the whole camera kit with the lens. The body alone is still a lot, just not quite that many.

Yeah the kit price is always a trap for new buyers. I almost made that mistake last year looking at a Sony A7IV. The body alone was $2500 but every ad showed the $3300 kit price up front. You gotta dig into the specs on the manufacturer's site to see the MSRP for just the body.

Honestly, that flea market find is super cool. Tbh I feel that "minor miracle" feeling every time I get an old camera working again. It's like what wesleyb92 said about digging into the real specs, you never know the full story until you get inside the thing. My hands still hurt from trying to re-align a Contax rangefinder last month.
