Figured out why my Canon AE-1 kept jamming on frame 13

I was cleaning a beat up Canon AE-1 last weekend and noticed it always jammed right around frame 13. Turns out the foam bumper on the pressure plate had turned into sticky goo and was catching the film sprockets. Has anyone else run into this with older foam parts breaking down in specific cameras?

And yeah, @tara_jones94 is right, that sticky goo is the worst to clean up. I had the same issue with an old Minolta and ended up using isopropyl alcohol and q-tips to gently scrape it off the plate. Replacing it with a new foam strip from a camera repair kit fixed the jamming for good.

Did I just get life advice from a q-tip...

Sticky foam turning into goo is nasty work.
