Went to that big woodworking expo in Atlanta last weekend...
Saw someone spraying lacquer in a booth with zero ventilation, like a fog machine of fumes. Three other people were standing right there chatting too. Has anyone else noticed shops getting careless about respirator rules lately?

Box fan and a respirator or I'm walking out, no finish is worth brain damage.

Oh man that story gave me flashbacks. I walked into a buddy's garage shop last month and he was spraying conversion varnish with just a dust mask on. I mean a paper dust mask. I turned around and walked right back out, told him to call me when he got a real respirator. The worst part is he was like "it's fine, I just open the garage door a crack" and I'm standing there thinking buddy your brain cells are literally evaporating. I don't get how people can be that casual about it, especially when you see those old timers who can barely breathe from years of that stuff.
