Vent: My track saw guide rail slipped mid-cut on a $400 slab yesterday

Had a full mitre out in the shop on a walnut countertop piece for a condo install, and I didn't double check the anti-slip strip. The whole rail shifted 3/8" and now I've got a gouge I can't hide. Anyone got a quick fix to fill a track saw groove that won't look like hell in a week?

...and that's why I keep a tube of walnut-colored epoxy mixed with fine sawdust in the shop at all times. Dude, a 400 dollar slab hurts but that's a rite of passage in this trade. You could try a dutchman patch but that's a whole other level of work. Honestly, fill it deep with the epoxy, sand it flat, and hope the finish blends it. Otherwise tell the customer it's a "custom distressed feature" and charge extra.

Nah, it's just wood. Slap some filler on it and move on.

Betty's got me rethinking my whole "fake it til you make it" approach to woodworking. Guess I'll start calling my mistakes "custom distressed features" from now on.
