Vent: My old boss in Grand Rapids would never believe how we do drawer boxes now
Three years ago, I was still hand cutting all my dovetails for drawer boxes in his shop, and it took me a full day for a kitchen. Last month, I set up a simple jig for my router and got the same work done in about three hours. It just makes me think about how much the little things have sped up, even if I miss the quiet of that old hand tool work. Anyone else have a method that used to take forever that you've totally changed?

Full day to three hours" is wild. Honestly, my old methods were so slow I'd probably be fired if I tried them now. Tbh, progress is just admitting how bad you used to be.

Yeah "admitting how bad you used to be" hits hard. I read this thing about how people get stuck because they won't let go of old ways that feel safe, even if they're slow. Like manually checking every single email instead of using filters, or typing the same reply over and over instead of making a simple template. You have to call your own past self a little dumb to move forward.
