Rant: My client in Boulder said my dovetails looked too perfect and machine-made, which made me realize maybe I've been over-sanding for a decade.
He said, 'I can see the hand of the machine, but I want to see the hand of the maker,' and that one comment has me questioning my entire finishing process now, so has anyone else had a client push back on something being 'too clean'?

Boulder clients are a different breed.

I've worked with a few Boulder companies and found them pretty normal. The tech scene there just has its own pace compared to Denver. It's more about the industry than the location itself.

Stop overthinking it and leave some visible tool marks or a slightly uneven surface on your next piece. That Boulder crowd pays a premium for character, so give them something that looks like a human actually touched it.
