Pocket screws vs. dowels on a cherry cabinet door, and I'm never going back
I built two matching cherry cabinet doors last month, one with pocket screws and one with dowels, just to see which held up better. The pocket screw door started racking after about three weeks on a humid job site, but the doweled door is still dead square with no gaps at the joints. The dowels took me about 40 extra minutes to drill and glue up, but the strength difference is night and day. Has anyone else had pocket screws fail like this, or did I just get a bad batch of screws?
