Overheard a homeowner say they'd never pay for dovetails again

They were showing a friend a drawer and called the joints 'just decoration'. It made me realize a lot of people don't see the structural benefit, only the look. How do you explain the value of proper joinery to a customer focused on budget?

Just decoration" hurts a little... like when someone calls my belt a fashion choice holding up these pants. I guess you gotta show them a wobbly drawer and a solid one side by side.

You ever try to open a drawer that's just glued together? I mean, that wobbly feeling is the decoration argument falling apart right there.

Man that belt line is too real... you feel that wobble and suddenly it's not just looks anymore. Kevin_harris78 is right, that shaky drawer feeling proves the point better than any argument. Some people just won't get it until they're holding the broken piece in their hand. It's frustrating when good work gets called just for show.
