I finally visited that big lumber yard downtown and man...

I went to Metro Hardwoods in Portland last Tuesday to grab some cherry for a kitchen job and noticed half their premium plywood was stored right under a leaky skylight. The top sheets were all cupped and warped, but the guy at the counter acted like it was no big deal. Has anyone else seen big suppliers getting sloppy with material storage lately?

Three racks of their 4x8 cherry ply were actually bowing from the moisture when I walked by last fall. I get that lumber yards deal with humidity but letting water drip on stock for weeks is just lazy inventory management.

Yeah but if they know about it and don't fix it, that's on them...

Maybe it's not totally fine but idk if it's worth getting that worked up over either. @chen.casey i've seen worse at some of the big box stores honestly, like whole pallets of plywood sitting out in the rain for days. At least a lumber yard is trying to keep stuff dry, even if they drop the ball sometimes. It's wood, it's gonna move around a bit no matter what you do.
