Hit 2000 hours on my Festool track saw this week and it finally clicked

I got this saw 4 years ago and always thought it was just overpriced hype. But last Tuesday I was cutting 60 sheets of maple ply for a kitchen job in Austin and I realized I haven't touched my table saw in like 8 months. The thing that surprised me is how much waste I eliminated. I used to burn through an extra panel every 15 sheets with tearout from my old saw. Now I'm at maybe 1 panel lost in 40 sheets. That adds up to like $200 saved per job easy. The dust collection is so good I don't even wear a mask half the time. Has anyone else tracked their hours on a tool and realized it paid itself off way faster than you expected?

The waste reduction math is what most people completely overlook.

The waste reduction is something people forget until they actually see it in their numbers. @the_avery mentioned that and you're right, it's overlooked. But what really got me was how much less I use my shop vac now too. Before I was running a big 5hp dust collector AND a shop vac, and now it's just the vac hooked to the saw maybe twice a day. That electricity savings alone over 2000 hours probably covers a chunk of the saw price.
