Discovered a trick at IWF Atlanta that saved me hours on face frame assembly
I was at the Blum booth last week watching a guy demonstrate their drawer slides and he casually mentioned using shims to preload face frames before glue-up. Tried it on my last kitchen job and my joints came out way tighter than usual. Any of you guys use this method or am I late to the party?

Yeah you're definitely not late to the party but it's still a solid trick. I started doing it after seeing a cabinetmaker at a local shop demo. I cut my shims from scrap plywood, keep a bunch in my apron. Makes a huge difference on the miters too, keeps them from shifting when you cinch down the clamps.

Been using shims that way for a few years now. Definitely makes a difference on keeping everything square and tight before the clamps go on.
