Chatted with a 70-year-old trim carpenter about drawer slides

He said he's never used soft-close slides in 50 years and called them 'a crutch for bad joinery.' Had me wondering if I've been overcomplicating things just to charge more. Anybody else get hit with that kind of old-school reality check?

Ask him if he's ever had a customer complain about slamming drawers.
