A finisher in Grand Rapids told me my drawer fronts were 1/16 out and it wrecked me
I had been building face frames with a 1/16 reveal for close to 9 years and figured that was just the standard. A finisher I do work for up in Grand Rapids walked my last kitchen, ran his hand down the seams and asked if I was eyeballing the rails. Turns out I had been setting my table saw fence by tape measure and it was drifting about 1/16 over a 30 inch cut. I bought a $40 digital caliper and started checking every setup cut, no exceptions. My reveals are now dead even at 3/32 across an 8 foot run, and I have not had a single callback since. Anybody else set their fence with a tape and swear by it? I want to know if I was the only one.
