Tried calling my dad 'phone' as slang and he just hung up
I saw people online saying 'phone' now means something is fake or made up, so I figured I would test it on my dad. Called him and said his story about catching a 12 pound bass in Corpus Christi was 'phone', and he went quiet for about 8 seconds. Then he said 'son, are you okay' and hung up on me. Guess that slang only lives in certain corners of the internet and not in a 67 year old man's kitchen. Anyone actually heard this one used out loud, or is it just a typing thing?
Your dad hanging up is way funnier than any internet slang could ever be. Slang like that lives and dies online because it only works when everyone in the room knows it. Try it on a real person and you just sound like you lost your mind. Why would a 67 year old man from Corpus Christi know what some random corner of TikTok decided a word means this week?
